Smores are probably more American than apple pie, they just don’t get the proper credit they deserve.

Sure, smores are great served next to a roaring campfire or backyard fire pit, but you can recreate the flavor easily using your air fryer.

Air fryer smores let you toast up some marshmallows and melt some chocolate all without having to leave your kitchen.

Its just like making oven smores – but just about 1 minute faster!

Take that stupid hot oven!

If you don’t know the ingredients for air fryer smores, well, I can’t really help you.

Let me break down the ingredients slowly for you:

  • Graham Crackers – Yeah, we buy these for the family maybe once a year because – on their own – their really not worth eating. As part of a smore though, they earn their keep. You could also use your favorite cookies for the air fryer smores if you like, but graham crackers are the most traditional.
  • Marshmallows – Another one of those “treats” that you really just don’t buy unless it is in cereals or to make smores. Even our little garbage disposal children do not eat these on their own very often, and they have questionable taste at best.
  • Chocolate – Yes, you can use just about any chocolate bar you like, but milk chocolate tends to melt nicely in the air fryer. We use Hershey’s, but you can use your preferred brand.

For equipment, you will need an air fryer. Otherwise you will be stuck making these air fryer smores in the oven instead.

How to Make Air Fryer Smores

1. Prepare your smores.

We tend to prepare the smores directly in the air fryer basket rather than transfering the base into it.

Break your long graham crackers in half to form squares. You can make as many as you want or that will fit in your air fryer basket.

Place marshmallows on top of each piece of chocolate.

Next, place a single large marshmallow, flat side down on top of each rectangle of chocolate.

2. Air Fry the Smores.

Carefully insert the basket into the air fryer.

Change your air fryer settings to 350 degrees and set the cook time for 3 minutes.

When your air fryer beeps to shake or flip your food, carefully pull out the basket and check the marshmallows.

If they are golden brown and starting to grow a bit in size, they are done.

Otherwise, allow them to cook for the 3 minutes, at which point they should be nicely golden brown and the chocolate should be melted.

Its a good idea to check your air fryer smores after about 2 minutes to make sure they are not starting to burn the first time you make the smores since air fryer cook temperatures can vary some.

3. Remove carefully and serve.

When the marshmallows are ready, carefully remove the basket from the air fryer.

Use a spatula to carefully remove each smore and serve immediately.

Serving

I mean, you can put them on a plate.

I guess if you really want, you could try using a paper towel or napkin.

These are smores, so really you don’t need a bunch of other stuff to dress them up.

I do recommend eating them shortly after making them, otherwise they start to get hard and less appetizing.

Storing

Seriously?

Why would you want to store freshly made air fryer smores?

I have seen my own kids eat them after several hours, so I guess they are still decent.

And if you really, really want to eat something that should be eaten fresh for later then put them in an air tight container.

Tips and Tricks

  • Yes, you can store these, but for the love of all things smores related, please eat these fresh from the air fryer.
  • These only need about 3 minutes. Since air fryers can vary like ovens, you might want to check them at the halfway mark to make sure they don’t burn.
  • Place the marshmallows on their flat side to prevent rolling. Often the drawers of these air fryers get stuck so it can cause the marshmallow to roll if you lay them on their round side.
  • Do not place the top graham cracker on until after it cooks. Place it on immediately after cooking the smores.
